Datapath supplies high-performance videowall controllers and is a leading niche player in a worldwide market. The company’s founders were seeking an investment partner to guide them in building a world-class management team and further developing the business. Foresight was introduced to the company by an institutional investor, and in September 2007 invested £3 million for a significant minority equity holding. Foresight introduced as chairman an accomplished business leader known to Foresight through another portfolio company. Foresight also identified individuals within its network who were able to provide the company with specific insight into the markets and distribution channels central to the company’s success and further guide the company’s business planning. With revenues close to £10 million and growing at 30% plus per annum, Datapath is well positioned to build on its market leading position. The investment remains in Foresight’s portfolio.
