Many solo racers have attempted the solo non-stop around-the-world race using the ‘zero option’ but in the past, it has proved too restrictive, unreliable or too complex. Conrad Colman, on his specially converted boat Foresight Natural Energy, was the first skipper in the history of the Vendee Globe to complete the race using no fossil fuels at all, relying on eco-sustainable power, with no diesel engine and not using the class obligatory generator.
